Prayers

We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you Colossians 1:3b

Heavenly Father, we often go through life so lonely, needing what other people can give us, yet ashamed to show that need. And other people often go through life so lonely, hungering for what it would be such a joy for us to give. Please bring us together with other people who need us, so we can help each other, and we would so much enjoy each other. (by Cathie R.)

Our Stewardship:128_family.png

  • Our weekly offerings–a giving lifestyle makes us participants in the work of God’s kingdom affecting people for eternity in our community and all around the world. Giving is an outstanding characteristic of God. When I give willingly and generously from the pile of “daily bread” that God parceled out to me, I reflect God’s nature and his will. God so loved the world that he gave… (John 3:16)

These 4 questions will always help you to think about God’s message:

  • What does this reading lead me to regret?
  • What does it lead me to be thankful for?
  • What does it lead me to pray for? Myself or others?
  • What does this reading lead me to do?

Matthew 6:9-13

“This, then, is how you should pray:
” ‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors. praying-2.jpg
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.

Luke 11:2-4

He said to them, “When you pray, say:
” ‘Father,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.
And lead us not into temptation.’ “

A Prayer for Our Soldiers

soldier.jpgFather, help us to believe that this is still your world. You had the first word, and you will have the last. We call to you this day on behalf of our soldiers in Afghanistan, Iraq, and around the world. Help them with their loneliness; help them with their fear. Those who are Christians, remind of their citizenship in heaven. Those who are not, let this land of danger and death move them to seek out knowledge of your Son. For the innocent men, women, and children of Iraq and Afghanistan, we pray that you protect them from bullets and bombs and bad men. Give them courage to bear this season of suffering, to stand up for their freedom, to rid their neighborhoods of tyrants. Raise up honest leaders to lead a new government, rooted in the freedom and dignity of the individual. Especially send plenty of the freedom and dignity which come from hearing the gospel of forgiveness—forgiveness free and forgiveness full—in Jesus, your Son, our savior, whose flesh and blood knew violence and death, but who lives again, and today is giving still the peace the world cannot give. Amen, absolutely, Father, let it be so.

A Soldier’s Prayer

Holy Father in heaven, as your child, I come to you for divine protection and guidance while I am in the service of my country. By the precious blood of your Son, Jesus, you have bought me as your own. In your Word you have given me the assurance that the very hairs of my head are all numbered. Trusting in your promises and relying upon your grace, I confidently ask you to supply my daily needs, guard me against all danger, deliver me from all harm to body and soul, and protect me from the evil one.

debt5.jpgBlessed Jesus, my Savior and brother, let me never forget at what cost you have saved me. May the memory of your perfect life, your bitter suffering and death, and your glorious resurrection, keep me from sin and strengthen my resolve to do what is right. By your grace, forgive my failures, and enable me to follow in your footsteps.

O Holy Spirit, my Counselor, you live with me and are in me. Speak to me daily through the Holy Bible and give me strength and peace. Remind me each day that I am a new creation—loving my enemies and forgiving others when they hurt me. Help me to be obedient to my superiors, considerate of all my fellow soldiers, and a living example of true Christian faith.

O God of my salvation, I am your own precious child, both in time and eternity. May Your Kingdom come. May Your will be done here on earth, as it is in Heaven. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen
